After the devastating outcome of hurricane Helene, which caused our previous home to be 2 feet flooded, effectively rendering it unlivable and transforming the vast majority of our personal property and belongings into scraps and garbage, Thea showed us the first property available to rent we could find.

Within a week we became so desperate and frustrated by surfing couches amongst our overwhelmingly supportive friends and chasing one AirBnB and overbooked Hotel after another, that we came less than a day close to signing a 1 year lease for a completely empty apartment.

Just hours before the signing Thea contacted us about a fully furnished house, right in the neighborhood we’ve been living before and wanted to stay.

Being aware of our situation, the urgency for us to find a new place to move in to and the lack of furniture we’ve been facing since, she showed us the place and guided us through the application process.

Now, thanks to the genuine compassion she showed for our individual situation, we are back to waking up in the same bed day after day and hope for all those tens of thousands remaining disaster victims to be able to recover as quickly as we were able to.
