Well the tradition continues!! My husband and I met at Flint Hills Job Corps in Manhattan, KS, and now our first born son Draven W, is attending Pine Knot Job Corps in Pine Knot, KY!! We are so proud of him, he will be training to become a Forest Firefighter. He's been there for about a week and already loves it! He's learning career readiness, teamwork, life skills, self care, making friends, getting paid and having fun. Just in the first week he's learned to play drums, gone rock climbing for the first time ever, and played in a pool tournament! All while also brushing up on math and reading skills, shadowing trades like carpentry and welding before choosing forest firefighting and conservation. Job Corps is the best thing for anyone serious about their future!

I think Pine Knot CCC is absolutely fantastic and wonderful. Most of the students are top-notch and want a better future. If you are willing to work hard and maintain a positive attitude, you can greatly benefit from this program. Most of the negative comments are probably from students who were unlucky enough to have a bad experience. If there is anything we can do to make it a positive, helpful experience, we will do it. Several thousand students have enjoyed their stay and left here better than when they arrived. For the person who saw drug dealing, bullying and fighting, tell us so that we can rectify the situation. Your safety is the most important thing we can focus on. Please keep safe and tell someone about what you see so that the center can address it. And by the way, it is thousands who have graduated and gone on to good careers. If a job could be saved from a Google review, that would be a sad commentary on our organization. I have been here for a long time and can honestly say that we do all we can to help our students.

JobCorps is home to a remarkable group of people and an outstanding team. Nevertheless, it's crucial to be mindful of unnecessary conflicts as we don't encourage drama here. Keep in mind that this is not a summer camp, but a place dedicated to job training. Participating in fights, stealing, or causing drama may lead to expulsion from JobCorps, and that is not something we want to see. Let's work together to foster a positive environment for everyone moving forward.

Decent place, some staff are better than others. Counselors here are amazing they will do everything in their power to make sure you have everything you need to succeed. Food's better some days more than others but it's not bad in my opinion.

I will say that only come here for the Computer tech trade if you already know a fare bit about computers. Thankfully I was very knowledgeable when I got here because the instructor is not. She is basically a glorified babysitter that just sits in her office most of the day and will come out to make sure you're doing your work but don't plan on asking her for help you won't get it. You will hear "Look in your book, everything's in there"

All in all, the program does do what it's designed to do. It really depends on you. You get out what you put in. Fool around and you won't get much.

Personally, I also recommend not making that many friends just because a lesser social circle will actually benefit you through the program. You came here for you. Don't get caught up in relationships, don't try to get in fights to prove how big & tough you are. It's not worth it

I attended 99 through 2000 and my trade was urban forestry. It was life changing for me. A truly wonderful experience. I have gone on to start 2 business, one of which uses the skills I learned while at PKJCC, the other a successful construction company.

I didn't want to attend but I was forced to. I made the most out of it and it changed my life. I started out headed down the road to getting kicked out. But one instructor just kept pouring into me and I guess you could say he convinced me I was better than what I thought I was back then. His name was Frank Woosley. He was the Urban Forestry instructor. To him I owe a big thank you!

There were several issues that arose between students while I was there, but there will always be issues that arise when you put people from diverse cultures and backgrounds together. ( Not to mention just people being people) There will be struggles and challenges along the way, with both staff and other fellow piers, but I didn't let that stop me and neither should you. I worked through the struggles and made some of the best memories and friends from them. Not to mention a trade that has provided me and my family with a comfortable life.

If you are considering going here I would recommend it. This place can change you life if you want it to.

Someone had mentioned in another review that the degrees we get upon graduation don't mean anything in the real world... My degree means a lot to me! It hangs on the wall in my office next to my OTHER degrees. It was the first one I ever got and showed me that I could do anything if I put my mind to and and was willing to fight for it! I am proud of that Job Corp degree. You will be too if you manage to get one.

Amazing place. Majority of staff is actually there to do their jobs and train future generations. Can't speak for them at the moment but during my time, just 1 bad seed. I loved my time there and I can't stress enough that courts will send children there as punishment but I personally chose to go. No judgment on the ones sent there because. I did get in 1 fight. I didn't tell on anyone just explained my injured self as a skate boarding accident. I love and miss me laxton that man is a God send to troubled youth.

2002 graduate. In my honest opinion it was the best job Corp in Kentucky. Never once experience racism at the center at all. The culture was a mixture with staff and the student body. There was people from different cultures on the center. I miss it there and if I could do it all over again I definitely would and be even better The I was before. I was a dorm leader and also a SGA member. We went on several field trips like kings island, Fort Knox military base, camp horizons, several camping trips, movie trips, skating, etc. once again I was there June 2001 - November 2002. I’m sure a lot have change since then. Especially with this new generation. Overall a great center and I don’t have anything bad to say about pkjcc.

Being at Pine Knot Job Corps was a unique experience. Im glad I finally graduated and got away from the stress of it, but it definitely taught me some valuable lessons and taught me more about computers that I didnt know at the time. It's definitely worth going if you want to get into a trade. Computer Tech was amazing to be in and learn new things!
