I cannot believe just how happy I am with my new Struxure pergola that Chris Fielder with Kentucky Outdoor Living built for me! It is exactly how I imagined and the quality of the workmanship is beyond compare. Chris and his team were so responsive before and during the project and he was so patient with me as I must have asked a million questions! Lol He is simply a great guy and so honest. The electricians were amazing as well and so nice and respectful. I cannot say enough good about everyone and just how happy I am. Took our money 4 months ago for a simple one day project. We have heard nothing since. Storefront in Nicholasville does not exist.

Edit: November 26, 2023. The owner Chris was able to get in contact with me and locate my job in his system as well as my payment made. The project manager I was working with is apparently no longer with the company. Chris worked to quickly complete the job. I would utilize this company again but only if dealing directly with Chris Fielder.

I am so impressed with Kentucky Outdoor Living! They did drainage work in the spring and were very responsive, provided a detailed quote and got the job done quick. Not only did they resolve all my water issues but Chris Fielder’s attention to the smallest details is impressive. The entire team was professional and they do excellent work. If you’re looking for landscape design, building a pool, a deck, a covered patio or all of the above, I highly, highly recommend this team!

I recommend Chris Fielder and KY Outdoor Living to anyone who needs a porch. Chris is professional, pleasant to work with, his standard is "perfection" and and his team completes their projects in a timely manner (there is no question of whether they will "show up"; they work long hours until the project is complete). After our beautiful screened-in porch was finished, my unruly 120 pound pup scratched the screen door leaving a hole in it. I asked Chris whether he knew of any solutions for the pups, and he found a solid door and replaced it FOR FREE. I honestly can't wait to work with the team again.

Kentucky Outdoor Living was a pleasure to work with. They were punctual, neat, and professional, supplying quality workmanship. Their design and unique suggestions for things that I had not considered only enhanced my property (i.e. moving the stairs to encircle a tree and open the lower deck, underground drainage to stop erosion under the stone steps, connecting the lower deck gutters around the new ceiling into the new drainage system, etc). I could not have been more pleased with the final project. Chris Fielder, Chris Scott, and all their employees were more than pleasant to have around. I was happy to have the project completed but hated to see them leave. Thank you, KY Outdoor Living for adding such quality to my home. I highly recommend their services.

I do not recommend this company. In my opinion he gouges customers and takes advantage of innocent people that don’t due their research. I called to get a quote for a roof expansion. He quoted $18,000. I got quote from a builder for 3 days/ 3 guys at $100 an hour total. Which is totally fair. A typical carpenter charges between $25-$40 per hour. It came to $2,400 for the job compared to his estimated price of $18,000. Then the average price to install a patio is between $4 to $12 per square foot for labor only. Google it. He told me his rate for labor only is $26 per foot. For a 1,000 square foot project that is between $4,000 - 12,000 compared to his $26,000 and you still have to pay material cost for the tile. I told him he didn’t even need to come by after telling me his $26 per foot rate. I don’t like being gouged on prices. It’s the principle of the thing. He told me that it included everything as if I wasn’t there. Another contractor came by today and said his company was higher than most to install a patio from start to finish for $15 an hour. He also said it was from start to finish. I told him he was great compared to the $26 per foot I was quoted by Kentucky Outdoor. These prices are not even close to fair market value. When I brought it to his attention he stated, “my customers are very satisfied with the work we bring to the table.” I guess if your wealthy and can afford to not be prudent then go ahead. I make a good living and could pay these rates if I wanted. But, I am prudent and do my research so I don’t get taken advantage of. I always get 3 quotes and see what the market price is. All you have to do is Google it and ask for a breakdown of labor and materials separately. Then do your due diligence. Good luck.
