Can’t speak highly enough about Mike at High End Audio Repair. I walked in with my in-laws old 1970s Sony HP record player. I really gave Mike a challenge with fixing my vintage Pioneer receiver. A previous tech gave up on it but Mike was diligent, I must have brought back the thing back a half a dozen times, and he never charged me another cent from what was already a very reasonable price for his work. Now this 50 year old receiver is in perfect working order. On top of that, Mike works his own magic to improve the performance on this old equipment and while I can't offer an informed analysis of what he does I'll say this: I did a blind comparison of my receiver with a high end modern amp, not just with myself but with friends. While the difference was subtle, the old receiver Mike worked on was the clear winner. I am very slow to give my loyalty to any business, but Mike has mine. He is the ONLY person I'd go to for this kind of work.

I took a vintage technics receiver in for some cleaning and to replace some capacitors. I get it back home and put on an Ahmad Jamal Trio album to test it out. I'm hearing background drum fills and variation in the piano that I couldn't hear before. Excellent service amazing turn around time I couldn't be happier.

Mike is a master of the McIntosh tube amplifier, especially the vintage models such as my pair of MC30s. These beauties have been with me since 1970 but - after several techs and audio specialists over the decades that followed they have never sounded this good. Not even close. Ever.
Mike knows what he's doing, takes the time to explain what he will be doing, and treats his clients' audio equipment with the utmost in integrity and care. He's really approachable, a good explainer and a thorough workman.
Mike is also a very friendly, pleasant and amiable person who loves tube amplified music - down to the very timbre of it.
You won't do better in the DMV. I'm grateful to have done business with him.

Mike was able to quickly diagnose and repair my tube phono stage preamp (Synthesis Roma 79DC). His turnaround time was very fast and he clearly communicated throughout the process. I would not hesitate to bring other audio equipment in for repair or maintenance. Mike is knowledgeable about both tube and solid state audio and equipment and my phono stage has been working perfectly since he repaired and upgraded it.

There are not enough characters to detail the level of customer satisfaction I have with this business. I had an Adcom 7500, where only 4 out of 5 channels were working. I had searched all over and was given a timeline of where I'd be without my amp for 3-4 weeks. This was just for review and assessment, not even repair. I came across this company and called 10 minutes before closing and Mr. Mike stayed on the phone with me for 30 minutes after closing. All of my questions were answered and even those I didn't know I'd have were answered. We set up an appointment and the respect I got over the phone was the same as I got in person. My repair took about 3 days. The pricing was more than fair. It was a joy to pay considering I got my amp working again. I will be a repeat customer. The post-repair follow-up is also unique. All-in-all this is a very unique repair facility. Quality, integrity plus great pricing equals High End Audio Repair.
