Working with the owner of this establishment was deplorable to say the least. You would think being in the grief business you would have some decency & humanity, as you see people at their worst. The owner went so far as to say he was “annoyed” by our calls. I’m not sure why, because until we text him that we were on our way to his establishment he sent us to voicemail or would text vs answer. No matter the day or time of day. Our loved one had to be transferred from Mile High to Chicago. In asking to see our loved one prior to flight we had to drive 45 minutes outside of Denver, he took our loved one to his “other location” vs the in Denver, where we were staying. When we were finally allowed to see our loved one he was in a hospital gown and covered in a blanket. That was not the issue. The issue is we were told we could come to see our loved one and stay as long as we wanted. NEVER being told that there would be a charge. In fact our Chicago Funeral Home was also not told - rather sent a bill for $150.00 for a “Viewing”. We felt held hostage, fearing what the owner himself would do to or to delay our loved one, that we just paid it. The ladies at the out of Denver location were very kind and apologized for the rude & unprofessional owner. They told us we could stay as long as we wanted - never saying it would be an additional charge than the thousands of dollars already paid for services.

I would NEVER use this company!

I am pleading with anyone who even thinks about using services with Austin from Mile High. I will tell you as much as possible that this man was an insensitive human being when it came to working with him. First, the mortuary that was in contact with him out of state on my fathers behalf had been trying to get ahold of him and he also did not return my phone calls under an urgent matter and when he finally answered my phone calls he was disgustingly rude and inconsiderate, stating that he is busy with other funerals and I’m not the only person he has time for. If he would’ve returned at least one phone call or text I would’ve been understanding enough to not keep calling. However I was on a time crunch and I urgently needed him to do his job.

My father passed away and anyone who knows what it feels like to lose someone you love as dearly as a father knows that emotions are on high. The first time I spoke to Austin, this man spoke to me over the phone with so much anger. The third time speaking to this man Austin he admitted that he was “annoyed” (his exact words) with me when all I was trying to do was get my father to rest which involved him moving to his home state. It’s quite a process and it needed to be handled with care and promptness. When I finally was able to see my father at Marks funeral home (another funeral home that Austin works with) the ladies there were very pleasant and apologetic for Austin’s behavior. They reassured me that I could spend as much time as needed with my father in the funeral home. After I received the bill Austin charged me $150 because I went 6 minutes after the 2 hour time limit. Money is not at all a concern but what is a concern is the insensitive and rude behavior from Austin. Every encounter with him was disturbing. He is in the wrong business. Please, please do not consider this business if you are laying a loved one to rest. I waited until my father was moved to his home state and laid to rest before I wrote this post. I would not have trusted Austin to handle my father with care if I did not wait. I’m not writing this to bash Austin but I’m sincerely urging anyone that considers Austin for business to not consider! Please 💔 it broke my heart and I cried a couple times because of his treatment. I will never forget the way he made me feel on top of losing my father. I hope that he doesn’t treat anyone else this way.
———If you are not Austin forming an apology please don’t state my name in any of your posts. Just give your reviews and let people judge for themselves. Thats what a google review is for.

——-Replying to the individual that wanted to type my name several times instead of just writing a review- first of all you weren’t there and on the phone when I dealt with this man. I simply stated facts and towards the end of my post I stated how Austin made me feel. No one can go behind me and say otherwise. You are not me and you were not THERE. Mind your business and continue on. I’m sure Austin asked you to or Austin himself is replying back. *typical.

In fact—— It sounds like Austin wrote this post because it refers to some conversations we had. I also know for a fact you also weren’t happy about your trip to Greece. Just like you said to me, (with your own words) that you were annoyed with me . I was aware that you were upset sour your trip to Greece. Very consistent. You gave too much information for me to believe that you wrote this post.

On May 4th, my beloved Grandmother passed away. Although she had prior arrangements with a funeral home in NY, we had to work with someone here in Denver to handle the retrieval of her body and the cremation, and we were put in touch with Mile High Funeral and Cremation Services here.
At 9:30pm, a gentleman by the name of Tony, showed up in a 3-piece, tailored suit. He was the absolute most consummate professional and was so caring and attentive during our time of despair. He showed my Grandmother the utmost respect and kindness. He had a single rose that he took and touched her head with and left the rose on her nicely straightened bed. He then took her body out to the vehicle. In the final surprising gesture, as the vehicle was pulling away, he played "Amazing Grace", in the bagpipe version as he slowly left with her. What a touching tribute. I was blown away at the attention to detail that was paid to my Grandmother and I during this unimaginable time.
Dealing with Austin, was also a welcomed interaction. He was helpful and kind and I couldn't have asked for anyone better to have been involved with during this process.
Thank you Mile High Funeral & Cremation Services, you FAR exceeded my expectations.

Experienced the most profound and respectful service from Mile High. The gentleman that showed up to take our beloved Nana, was dressed professionally, had a rose that he left on her bed (after straightening up her bed). Then while leaving the parking lot, played Amazing Grace. Hazard lights on. This was the ultimate sign of grace and respect. And we will be eternally grateful for this experience during a tramatic time.

Austin just purchasing business in March 2024. Mom passed 3/4/24 I just needed a cremation because mom is from out of state. Took 2 weeks to get her ashes & death certificate. They actually delivered them to our house very nice. Still no obituary notice although I have emailed at least 6x. They said tech issues originally so I waited. Never received a reply email response to my last few emails. Tried calling - no answer. Understand transitioning to a new business is not easy. But need follow up and communication. Would like to get everything resolved - 2+months to post an obituary we wrote just takes a copy & paste function.

gerard was absolutely amazing. we came from out of state for an unexpected death and he was so understanding and was able to get us a private viewing and finish the cremation all in a matter of 2-3 days because he knew how important it was for us to get back home. it was absolutely perfect for us and we can’t thank him enough for all he did for us. he took good care of my brother and had great communication with us. he didn’t try to tack on extra charges like we encountered with other places. it was incredibly cheap considering everything he did and the expedited cremation. he was very respectful of our tragedy. thank you so so so much we could seriously never repay you for all that you did.
